Welcome to Gentle Vein Care Center (“Gentle Vein”). We are committed to providing high-quality, convenient vein care through our telehealth platform. This document explains how telehealth works, its benefits, risks, and your responsibilities as a patient. Please read this carefully before your virtual visit.
1. What is Telehealth?
Telehealth is a way to visit with healthcare providers using technology instead of traveling to a clinic. You can talk to your provider from any private location, including your home. At Gentle Vein, we use telehealth primarily for initial pre-screening consultations and follow-up care.
2. How Do I Use Telehealth?
You will talk to your provider using a secure phone, computer, or tablet with a camera and microphone.
Primary Platform: We use Google Meet, a HIPAA-compliant video tool that requires no software download.
Backup Platform: In case of technical issues, we may use Doxy.me, configured with a Business Associate Agreement to protect your privacy.
3. Benefits & Limitations
Benefits:
- Access to expert vein care without going to a hospital or clinic.
- Reduced risk of exposure to illnesses from other people.
- Convenient scheduling that fits into your busy life.
Limitations & Risks:
Not a Definitive Diagnosis: Telehealth is a preliminary step. In most cases, a full diagnosis of medical venous disease requires an in-person physical exam and a Duplex Ultrasound at our facility.
Technology Issues: Technical problems may interrupt or stop your visit before you are finished.
Examination Constraints: Your provider may make a mistake because they cannot examine you as closely as they would in person (e.g., they cannot measure pulses or exact limb circumference via video).
4. Privacy & Security
Gentle Vein uses technology designed to protect your privacy. We do not record visits without your explicit consent. To further protect yourself:
- Use a private, secure internet connection, and avoid public Wi-Fi.
- Conduct your visit in a quiet, private room where others cannot overhear your medical information.
5. Medical Emergencies
TELEHEALTH IS NOT FOR EMERGENCIES. If you experience any of the following \”Red Flag\” symptoms, do not book a telehealth visit. Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately:
- Sudden, severe leg swelling in one leg.
- Chest pain or shortness of breath.
- Rapidly worsening skin changes or signs of severe infection.
6. Cost & Insurance
What you pay depends on your specific insurance plan or self-pay status.
E-Commerce Bookings: If you purchased a \”Virtual Vein Consultation\” through our online store, the fee paid covers the record review and the initial consultation.
Additional Costs: If your provider decides you need an office visit or ultrasound after your telehealth session, those will be separate charges.
7. Consent & Agreement
By participating in a telehealth session with Gentle Vein Care Center, you acknowledge and agree that:
- We have explained how telehealth works and answered your questions.
- You understand that this virtual screening is informational and does not replace an in-person evaluation.
- You consent to have your health information stored in our HIPAA-compliant Google Workspace and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- You have the right to stop using telehealth at any time.
